Director I&C

Universities play a key role in the advancement of developing societies. Commercialisation of academic knowledge has garnered enough support from the policy makers in recent decades, and our vision at NUST is to make this a reality. We strongly believe that Research Excellence can only be achieved through impact and this is where its quality can be assessed. We, therefore, are here to facilitate our students, researchers and affiliates in protecting their inventions and taking them to the market for the larger benefit of Pakistani society.

For the last 20 years I have been professionally engaged with national and international organisations. Moreover association with Academia by having active role in multidisciplinary education has inculcated in me a strong tendency towards achieving the ‘third mission’ of universities. I along with my team envision NUST as a sustainable institute by fostering mutually beneficial industrial and corporate linkages, facilitating technology transfer and protecting Intellectual Property (IP) rights. Being a strong proponent of knowledge-economy, we strive in our capacity to shift focus towards academic engagement where researchers industry, society, and government can collaborate through mutual projects, consultancies, innovation led programmes, and knowledge transfer.

Innovation and commercialisation is a two way relationship between the IP owners and users. The promotion of the IP assets is as important as the role of technology development. Having structured the team as Intellectual Property experts, Industrial Linkage creators and Technology Transfer facilitators, we are geared towards creating an innovation ecosystem.

During my tenure at NUST as Director I&C, my aim will be to mobilize my team in building healthy relationships with all the stakeholders for the greater good of the society at micro and macro levels resultantly making Pakistan a harbinger of Sustainable development. We always look forward to avenues for developing collaboration with our external partners, and harnessing intellectual & innovation capacity of NUST. We hereby encourage all of you to step forward and help us achieve this goal.
