About I&C
In line with the global trends, Universities are increasingly becoming powerhouses of entrepreneurial activities with societal impact. Therefore, over the past years, we have successively enhanced our stress to transform NUST into a Generation 3 entrepreneurial University by encouraging Research, Innovation culture and Entrepreneurship aimed at achieving sustainability which is the characteristic of Gen 4 Univ. The university places strong emphasis on building productive relationships with Industry, Government, and the Society donors, and alumni to exploit the Quad Helix Model of nurturing innovation.
The Quadruple Helix Model of Innovation, where academia, Industry, government and society work together for development, is well demonstrated through the university’s close interaction and collaboration with all internal and external stakeholders for institutional and national development. A complete ecosystem of innovation & commercialization exists at NUST from which students and faculty benefit fully contribute to the knowledge economy thus enhancing the national innovation index.
The role of I&C Directorate is to encapsulate NUST’s research and intellectual property opportunities at the earliest stage, and to translate these benefits to the Industry. External relationships of I&C Directorate have grown into meaningful and lasting partnerships. More than 200+ Industry partners including SMEs, multinationals, large national firms, public sector and non-profit organisations, work with our constituent offices on mutually beneficial initiatives. Our partners gain access to the university’s state-of-the-art research infrastructure, innovative research, world-class researchers and brilliant young students, thereby creating value for the university and the stakeholders, and impacting the technological, social and economic progression of Pakistan. I&C Directorate is also responsible for moving research results from the laboratory to the market place.
